Route  
  • Your swim will begin in beautiful Shadow Cliffs Lake in Pleasanton
  • Swim course is a square out-and back format moving right to left
  • This is an active lake year round for fishing and boating

BIKE
 
Distance   11 miles (all distances are approximate)

Bike Route  
  • The bike will be one loop around Shadow Cliffs Regional Recreation Area 
  • Ride up a short incline to get out of the park turn right
  • Travel East on Stanley Blvd
  • Make a right turn and loop onto Isabel Ave.
  • Stay in the right lane and ride to Discovery Drive
  • Make a U-Turn and head south on Isabel Ave.
  • Turn right on Vineyard Ave.
  • Vineyard Ave. will take you through beautiful wine country estates, mixed with residential areas and this is the only part of the course with any kind of rolling hills
  • Once you hit Bernal Ave. you will turn right traveling for approx. 1 mile
  • Turn back onto Stanley Blvd.
  • Head back into the Park and the Transition area

  • Run over the berm separating Shadow Cliffs Lake to the water ponds on the backside
  • Run on a series of trails for 3 miles
  • Descend the berm to run the last one-half mile along the lake front
  • Finish in the middle of the large, grass park space

WHAT DO I NEED TO KNOW?

  • Arrive early (at least 1 hour prior to Race start)
  • Be sure to affix bike helmet sticker and bike frame number before entering Transition Area  (provided in Race Packet on  Saturday)
  • Enter Transition Area in an orderly fashion
  • Lay out your gear (sneakers, socks, towel, helmet, water, etc) neatly and concisely next to your racked bike
  • Volunteers will be on hand to guide participants through the process

NOTE:   The Local Race Director will use their best discretion on when the Transition area will be accessible to athletes to pick up their gear and leave Race site. The Transition area may be entered by participants only.

From 580 in Pleasanton: take the Santa Rita Road/Tassajara Road Exit and turn south, towards Pleasanton. Continue southward on Santa Rita Road to the intersection of Santa Rita Road and Valley Avenue. Turn Left onto Valley Avenue.  At the intersection of Valley Avenue and Stanley Boulevard, turn left onto Stanley Boulevard. 

From 680 in Pleasanton: take the Sunol Blvd (Castlewood) exit towards Pleasanton, Sunol Blvd becomes 1st Street, 1st Street becomes Stanley Blvd, cross straight through the light at Valley Avenue and proceed to the first stop light; the park entrance is on the right.

From the Host Hotel - Sheraton Pleasanton Hotel: Head west/ left on Stoneridge Mall Rd toward Canyon Way, Take the 1st right onto Canyon Way, Slight right to stay on Canyon Way, turn right at Foothill Rd, Slight right to merge onto 580 East, take the Santa Rita Road/Tassajara Road Exit and turn south, towards Pleasanton.  Continue southward on Santa Rita Road to the intersection of Santa Rita Road and Valley Avenue.  Turn Left onto Valley Avenue.  At the intersection of Valley Avenue and Stanley Boulevard , turn left onto Stanley Boulevard.

Public Transportation:  Livermore-Amador Valley Transit Authority WHEELS #10 (from the Dublin/Pleasanton BART station and downtown Livermore ) stops at Shadow Cliffs daily. To confirm bus schedule: call (925) 455-7500 or 511 (TDD/TTY 800-448-9790);

Race Day Parking:

Park Entrance gates will open at 5:00am on Race Morning.  Upon entering park, follow signage/volunteers to parking area.

NOTE:  The entrance/exit to the park will be closed on/off between 7:00am and 9:00am to allow cyclists to safely exit/enter park.

From Oakland, Berkeley, Vallejo, Napa, and points north, take 80 South to 880 South. From 880 South, take 92 West toward the San Mateo Bridge. Exit to the LEFT onto Hesperian Blvd.
 
From Palo Alto, Cupertino, Saratoga, take 84 East across the Dumbarton Bridge, and north on 880. From 880 North, take 92 West toward the San Mateo Bridge. Merge to the right, and exit to the right onto Hesperian Blvd.
 
From San Jose take 92 West toward the San Mateo Bridge. Merge to the right, and exit to the LEFT onto Hesperian Blvd.
 
From the Peninsula, take 280 or 101 to 92 East across the San Mateo Bridge. From 92 East take the Hesperian Blvd. exit, and turn left at the stoplight onto Hesperian, passing over the freeway north.
