Course Routes and Diagrams

SWIM  

Distance  

  • 1/2 mile (distance is approximate)

Swim Route 

  • Swim to your right, parallel to shore keeping buoys on your left
  • Go around the large turn buoy and swim toward the middle of the lake
  • Turn left at the next turn buoy and swim toward the finish

Note:

  • You will exit the water on a long paved boat ramp (depending on water levels ramp may be partially or fully exposed).
  • The water levels may be lower than past years but there is still plenty of water in which to swim

TRANSITION

  • Run/Walk from Swim Exit to Transition
  • The swim start and finish is approximately .25 mile from the lake 
  • A "mini transition" will be set up in which you may leave a pair of running/walking shoes to make your trip up to transition easier
  • These spots will be numbered, so please put your shoes in place prior to starting your Race
  • Use of mini-transition is optional

BIKE  

Distance  

  • 12 miles (distance is approximate)

Bike Route  

  • Exit transition to camp entrance
  • Exit Highland Lakes Camp and turn RIGHT
  • Travel approximately 2.75 miles, then turn left on Grisham Trail (main park road).
  • Continue back to Pace Bend Park Road and turn left at the stop sign
  • The entrance to Highland Lakes Camp is ~300 yards ahead on your right
  • The bike course is two loops
  • After completing the first loop, do not re-enter the Highland Lakes Camp
  • Continue on and complete a second loop
  • Then after two loops you may re-enter the Highland Lakes Camp and proceed straight towards transition area

RUN

Distance  

  • 3.1 miles (distance is approximate)

Route

  • Exit transition and follow cones and direction arrows
  • Run through Highland Lakes Camp property, through the parking and rv areas
  • Exit onto Kate's Johnson Road and run out to the camping area
  • Loop around the peninsula and return on same road
  • Continue to the lower portion of the property and veer right to complete run

OPEN PICK UP SESSION

  • All participants may pick up their Race Materials between 10:00am – 3:00pm on Saturday  
  • All Relay Team members must be together to pick up Race Materials between 10:00am-3:00pm on Saturday

COURSE OVERVIEW SCHEDULE

10:30 a.m.  and 12:30 p.m.  - Stage         

  • A member from the local race management team will review Swim, Bike and Run course routes in a Q & A forum 
  • Attendance is highly recommended  

RACE DAY PREVIEW - MEET SALLY EDWARDS

11:30 a.m.  and 1:15 p.m.   - Stage

  • Final finisher and Series spokeswomen, Sally Edwards, will be high fiving participants offering encouraging tips & tidbits for a successful Race! 
  • Guaranteed to help first-timers anticipate & overcome jitters
  • Seasoned athletes will enjoy these perennial favorite talks
