Surviving and Thriving: Benefits for Survivors Who Participate

Cancer survivors are a special part of each Trek Women Triathlon Race. One of the 2009 Trek Women Who Ride ambassadors is an active member of a Team Survivor Affiliate and a triathlon finisher.

Survivors will be honored during the 2009 Trek Women Triathlon Series with:

  • A free entry for first time racers (limited)
  • A special Survivor race wave
  • A "Breakfast Party" to share stories and meet other survivors (in most markets, this event will take place the morning of Race Materials Pick Up)
  • Recognition at the Finish Line
  • An opportunity for Survivors to connect with a local Team Survivor Affiliate

  • Free entries are limited for each Race

About Team Survivor

Team Survivor was founded in 1995 by Sally Edwards with the goal of returning fitness and health to the lives of women who have received a cancer diagnosis. The first Team Survivor Affiliate was founded in Austin, Texas. Today, there are more than 24 Team Survivor Affiliates across the country with programs ranging from triathlon training to yoga to Dragon Boating and more.

Team Survivor provides free support to female cancer survivors as they reach for fitness goals and programs are open to women in all stages of treatment, recovery, and survivorship. Physical activity feeds the body, mind, and soul, and Team Survivor provides women with exercise opportunities and education to "thrive" while they "survive." These women are already champions; Team Survivor helps them reach new heights. To learn more about Team Survivor, or to find a chapter near you, visit www.teamsurvivor.org.
